I'll measure tonight when I get home, but looks as though some steering stabilizers are going to be a tight fit.

Looks like the Motosportz just might fit?
Mark or Steve could you check this since you guys have these dampners?

Do you have a pic of your setup. Sounds interesting? A quick approach would be to drill through side of the nipple. Then, run a zip-tie through nipple and mounting hole. OR: push the side-drilled nipple through the mounting hole and put a R-clip or cotter pin through the nipple. This may help keep the shrouds closer to the bike too.

Matt,
I have posted it at least once in the past, I'll try a search. Adding a top bolt is much stronger than the pinning or zip tying the tit in place. I used to do that on my '00 but it gets ripped out very easy. Damn I need a new camera. Here you go: http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/att...1&d=1156251376 |

Another plus of this is that if the shroud is pulled hard it won't stretch the top of the rad out like an accordian, or break off the mount. All the force is to the frame through the brace. You don't need to buy the GasGas part for the isolator. Mcmaster has the same thing and in different lengths, they are industry std. parts. You can use different lengths and washers to gain clearance for the big tank and/or rad guards. What works and looks good for the bolt is the M6 aluminum helmet visor screws you get extras of with HJC helmets. I'll find and post part# later.

Has anyone found out if the motosportz damper will still fit?
If so I may have to buy the tank and the damper, as well as a new headlight.... man this sport is getting more and more expensive... Cheers Mark. |

motosportz vs clarke tank
We hastily put one on tonight and there is about 3 mm clearance between the post and the tank so YES, the motosportz damper should fit.
I will have to contact Motosportz though as the damper post clamp is too large in diameter for the 2010 frame. The steering columm on the new 2010 is slightly smaller in outside diameter so the post won't clamp.
