Default spring rubbing on shock body

I went from a 5.2 to a 5.8 spring on an Ohlins shock. Used a new original Ohlins spring. Checking with a square the ends don't appear to be perpendicular with the coil.

I've had the spring on and off several times trying to cure the problem. Even took the the paint off the ends thinking that may cock it. It still scrapes on the plastic sleeve.

I measured the od of the plastic sleeve vs the id of the spring. Only about .075" Not a whole lot if everything isn't perfectly aligned.

I had the same problem with an Ohlins shock & spring. It wore a nice flat on the inside of the spring coils.

I don't have a fix for it.

Got a belt sander/disc sander combo? The one with a large disc; why not carefully sand the ends until they measure square? Better than having it rub.
