Default High pitch Squealing from exhaust and exhaust flange?????

Afternoon everyone,

My 2010 ec 250 once it warms up has a HIGH pitch SQUEAL coming from the exhaust and exhaust flange... I know it comes from here because I took the Exhaust pipe off and notice it had O rings around the Flange.. SO I went to autozone and bought some new oRings and put them on.. Now the sound is def gone, but I have to wonder how long O Rings will last in that type of situation with the vibrations and heat... My bike has maybe 15 hours on it and they wore out QUICK!!

Is anyone else having this issue????

Also anyone else notice your flange gasket leaking at the bottom???

Thank you all in advance!!

The O-rings do blow out and will cause the noise you speak of. Metal on metal vibrating = high pitch. When replacing the O-rings pick up a set of Viton ones. They will handle the temps better than rubber. I have also had good results using a high temp silicone gasket sealer in addition to the O-rings. Other than that make sure the pipe is aligned properly.

Some have used a slightly thicker O-ring which makes it a bit harder to get the pipe on and off but provides a nice stable seal once on.

When the o-rings wear out the spooge will leak from the bottom and vibrations/noises will occur. Mine are mostly on decel.

I use the stock 44mm ID, 3mm width
Thicker size as in 4mm width just to assist sealing.

I buy mine from the local bearing shop.

Decel as in deceleration. As the engine rmp are falling is when the noise is most present.

I use 43 x 3.5 Viton o-rings. They are difficult to install, but seal much better and last longer.

Here is what works best to install...

Put the o-rings in the groove dry. Then grease the inside of the pipe flange and the outside mating surface of the o-ring.

Push the pipe on as far as you can. Most likely it won't readily go on all the way.

Then hook up the springs and let the springs pull the pipe on. You may need to push some for final fit.
