Default Help Please!

I bought a used 2010 ec250 this year. I sent to forks out to get set up. I just heard back that the forks are no good. tubes crushed from clamps and everything inside was over tighten and is striped. looked a $1100 just in parts that gasgas does not have.Anyone have any ideas or forks for sale.

robicon,

Actually your in a better position than Brent, as you have the Sachs, right? You should be able to use your clamps with a KYB swap. Do a search there ware a few discussions including fork sizes, etc. I would do that for sure, you will end up with better suspension than OEM.

I agree with Glenn. Much better to start with clamps that are closer to the right size. I can tell you even with a bored out lower ,I have pounded the snot out of the front end, and it is holding up so far. Knock on wood.

I would not hesitate in the least to invest some time and money into a KYB, WP, or Showa. Parts, service, etc are easy to find and the internet is full of help.

Ya thanks guys I was thinking a swap would be best. I will do a search hopefully I can come up with something that won't brake the bank.

Unfortunate name but this outfit has bunches of dirt bike parts, well organized and photographed in their eBay store. I for sure saw at least a couple sets of KYB Showa (?) forks + triples from late model CRFs and I didn't look too hard. I'd expect he has more available.

I've only ordered from him once. A complete front brake to fit the KYB/KX 250 front end I just put on a 2003 DE 250. He shipped quickly and responded promptly via e-mail.

If you could fit the KYB SSS forks from an 06 + YZ250 then that would be the ticket. These are some of the best forks out there once sprung and valved. Period.

Thats exactly what I would do, my friend just put a set from a YZ250F on his '10 KTM. I hope the '12 48mm Zoke forks can work as well.

The new 48's are pretty darn good I think. Mine took about 8hrs or so to start loosening up. I'm 150lbs and have not touched the springs or valving. I did remove 20cc's of oil from the outers.

The rebound seems a little quick, but that can be addressed when they get their first service.

An A rider rode mine that has a newer YZ with FactoryConnection worked forks and he mentioned my bike just floats over everything and felt great............He was even on the heavy side of the stock springs and probably needs 1-2 spring rates up from stock. I think that's a good indicator right there.
