Crankshaft flywheel nut

Hey. So im doing a rebuild of my engine and has come to where im gonna loose the crankshaft flywheel but i cant gor the world get the nut of, tried with the air thingie (dont know english word) but it wont move, and yes i know it clockwise thread. Any ideas? Bike is 2007 ec 300

Pop some rope down your spark plug hole to stop the piston.

Torque wrench... Nut should come off no issues.

Sorry mate, it's the week of it. I'm off to a mates today to borrow his rattle gun as mine won't remove my crank nut on my 07 EC300.

The big bugger on the clutch side is always fun.

Flywheel side not so bad. Use a bit of heat to soften any loctite.. and as previous if your impact is lacking the grunt get a bigger one or use something to stop the piston turning over at tdc.

Or loosen them before the engine comes out of the frame by selecting a high gear and using the rear brake. Should get the crank and clutch hub nut easily.

That would be nice if there was room for a socket when the clutch was in position.
I always hated the idea of that much force on the piston and bearings. But I'm changing the rod anyway. I have a long bar through the small end and blocks of wood on the crankcase.

But broke the wood. Made some new blocks of 20mm plastic I had lying around. Then heat. Hopefully this afternoon a friends workshop quality gun will take it off.

Need to consider how I put it on kindly. Same thing I guess but I might turn a ally sleeve to fit in small end. Loctite and 40Nm rather that rattle it up to a million like they seem to from the factory.

I'm making a huge assumption here, but why does the clutch need to be in place to undo the clutch hub? Surely the clutch hub is bolted to the input shaft of the gearbox.

Well I got mine off tonight but it fought.

Here's our recipe. Workshop rattle gun. Plastic blocks on crankcase. Bits of steel on top of that to bring it further up level and try reduce bounce and decrease angular leverage disadvantage. Then found a bigger axle with a spacer close to the 22mm rod hole to rest on blocks.
Plenty of heat.

Finally it spun off. Was a close run thing though.

Then have beers.

It's all about process and preperation.

Going to split the case to change crankbearings and pistonrod and its the only one left before i can do that everything else is removed, had some heat on it yesterday but maybe not enough, will try more tonight or tomorrow. Just love that this one is also stuck since i just spend 4 days trying to get the swing axel off since it was stuck, wish i could meet the owner before me who dident put grease on things
