Ohlins shock

I have a 2013 EC300 XC(R) Factory, and the rear shock is pretty lame. It has the Ohlins shock with rebound and compression, but the rebound adjustment seems to have little to no effect. The bike is very boingy over series of bumps. I've done two hare scrambles on it now as well as a few hours practice so the shock should be settled in now. I've set the sag as per the book but it still trys to pogo over bumps. Any thoughts...?

If someone has tried to twist the not around the compression adjuster thinking the shock has high speed compression adjustment then the shock will lose damping and need a service.

The shock only has two adjustments (not including spring preload), both of which are done by a hex key adjuster of the same size.

If its not that, what springs are you running.

Yeah, follow what you're saying. I bought the bike new and have not tried to "adjust" compression damping which isn't there. I'm familiar with the dual compression damping set up from my MX bikes.
The springs are standard which according to the online manual, are correct for my weight, 180lbs with gear.
I'd say there are twenty effective clicks on the rebound adjuster from fully in. I've tried it at six out last weekend but it still seems too fast. Disappointing for an Ohlins.

If it is kicking on jumps, your fork rebound may be too slow.

With the rebound adjuster all the way in, when you push down on the seat the bike should slowly come up.

Yes it should, but it doesn't. As I mentioned, it seems to make little difference which pisses me off for a supposedly high end bike with ten hours on it. The side-stand lasted less than two hours before I had to take it off because the bolt had bent.

Mine comes up slowly set at 20 clicks out, there is something amiss, at 6 clicks out I could eat a bowl of porridge before it came up, and that's with a 5.8 spring.

The side stand fully pisses me off as well, I use two shims on each side of the bolt to ease the swing and it still bends bolts

Hahaha... Most likely only get chance for another two hare scrambles this year, so I'll live with it until the fall, and then get it looked at. As you say, something amiss.

Hey Simmo, noticed you running a 5.8 spring.

I measured my sag after 8 hrs at 55mm static sag and 125mm rider sag, with 10mm pre-load on the stock spring (5.2). The bikes a 2013 300R.

I'm thinking of running a 6.0 spring, just out of curiosity, how much do you weigh (kgs), and are you happy with the 5.8???

I had to get my 2011 Ohlins 888 revalved to get the rebound to the point where I liked it at 15-20 clicks out so as to avoid the dreaded crosstalk with the compression side. Before that even with the rebound dialed all the way in it still wasn't as slow as I wanted it.
