Brian,

Spring length seems OK. Sorrry I didn't get back to you, I've been busy at night setting up my '07.

There should be a steel washer between the spring and the preload spacers, the last guy probably left it out. You should add preload, I think the fork will sag too much without any, expecially with the 4.0s. This can be done with the forks on the bike, bike on stand. Just remove the bars, loosen the top clamp bolts, and the fork cap. Put something under the front wheel to raise the fork caps and springs out of the fork for access.

Also consider you have a set of each 4.0 and 4.2, and can run one of each for a 4.1 if you choose to experiment.
