Default Vapour trail tech power?

just bought a vapour trail tech stealth i think...i was just wondering what can i take power from to the speedo?

i was thinking use the horns wires but then the speedo would only work when you push the horn right? ive got a 2004 gas gas ec 250

some pointers in the right direction would really be appreciated!
thanks

Default Me

I was gonna hook mine up as well to a power source but never bothered. It's been on my bike for 9 months or so and the internal batteries are still going strong.

BTW, in case you were unaware the hour meter works off of wheel movement time, not a engine created charge

I tapped my Vector into the headlight power (before the switch). This is definitely worth doing.

I run mine off the battery too! I think I changed it once early in the piece and that was that.

Not sure I agree entirely with your hour meter findings. There are two clocks. One that starts with wheel movement, another that reads ART (Acummulated Run Time). I had to run the wires from the unit to the spark plug cable to enable the tacho, which is when the ART then started increased. First 25 engine hours (estimated) it did not increase at all.

Weird, both my clocks are recording cumulative time but the unit is only hooked up to the speedo pick up. I have a Vector, maybe it is differnt

Maybe they are different. Mine is a vapor. Genuine Gas Gas labelled one that comes with the Euro/Aus models.

Default Sp33d0

just gunna run it off the battery for now i think...

although, coming form my stator up to my headlight is 2 wires, a yellow and a white wire...

could i connect the red(possitive) wire from the speedo to the yellow wire and the black wire from the speedo to the white wire from the stator?

Also setting up the wheel size, i think i set mine to 8415 or something, i know everyones is different but out of curiosity, what did you set your wheel size too?

Thanks

What bike are you running it off? Mine has the 'power cable' wired, but being a kick only it only runs off power when the bike is running. I can take some photos if you like. Can't remember what I set the wheel at. I did measure it when I started and have run the same wheels since.

My headlight wires on my bike are purple so I'm not sure that our wiring is the same.

Wheel size is a function of the tire that you run. You should measure it yourself. I don't recall what I am using sitting here at work.
