Default Chain & Sprocket Sizes

Just a quick question for all you knowledgable foke out there - I was wondering what it the standard chain and sprocket sizes for a 2003 Gas Gas EC 300, plus was there any changes to the 2007 model, i.e. does the stuff for the 2007 model fit directly on the 2003 model??

520 chain.
13-48 is standard.
Yes, sprockets have been the same since forever.

Not sure, I havent used 13-48 in a while.
However, iirc a 120 link chain with a few taken out is good.

Yea, I figured 120 should be more than enough. Thanks again...

Right I've had Supermoto wheels fitted to my Gasser for the last few months and was going to put the knobbles back on and was looking for a new chain and sprocket for the rear.

Anyway I was looking on the net for a good deal on the bits I need and there is a guy offering a chain 110 links long, so I counted the links on the old chain and its 112 including the split link. So I was wondering if 110 would fit or would it be too short?? The set up is 13 front and 48 rear.

I run 114 links with 13/50 sprockets to get the rear axle back further.

Look at where the axle sits with a good 112 link chain. If you can move the axle 0.625 in forward then you could probably fit the 110 link chain. I personally don't think it would fit.

Even if it did fit(close), it would cause the tire to chew up the mudguard of tear it off if a rock got in there.

Glenn is right - just running a 13/50 combo with a trials tire and stock chain wile eat up the mudguard.

I see a good few riders go up a few teeth on the rear and I was thinking of doing the same as I never get out of the lower gears.

How much difference would a 50 T rear sprocket make??
