The whole e-start thing and the way it was hinted at by the GasGas factory two years ago and even announced by the factory as an option last year was kind of a sales killer, at least here in the US.

My point is that everybody in the US seemed to want it, or at least talked about wanting it, and that delayed importing decisions because GasGas delayed the production of the e-start over and over and over...... So in turn GasGas USA ended up delaying its decision on which bikes to bring in early on because they were told that e-start was coming anytime and once again it was way too late before the first 2010 bikes even got here.

Its kind of like the Rekluse EXP clutch deal, everybody talked about it yet few have been sold (that is a large part of my trip to the factory where when we begged Rekluse to make a GasGas EXP clutch we'd in turn try and open some doors for them in Europe if they did.)

As far as the “add on” e-start option goes I doubt that it would be an easy / cheap upgrade for older bikes. My understanding is it involves at least a newly designed left side engine case that would most likely allow for a "bolt on" upgrade but only on the new models with the new engine cases. Don't worry I'll try my best to get to the bottom of it.

The Sachs suspension valving thing is just an ongoing evolution. It seems to be getting better each year, or at least getting closer, but it’s not perfect for everybody.

Very few OEM suspension set ups by any factory are spot on for all but a few middle of the road riders anyway. For play riding I’ve been happy with the stock suspension but I’ve also had a chance to ride the new Ohlins TTX suspension and can appreciate that set up as well.

It was my understanding that KTM's starter patent stalled GasGas's production of the Estart.

GF while you are at the factory try to find out which serial numbers refer to the bikes manufactured last week and this week ... have a feeling that they will be hangover bikes

With the current economic crisis in Spain, and seeing that the 4-stroke trials bike has been delayed, I suspect that any new R&D investment is way back on the shelf. This being said, try and get an update on the status of the new GG 250F motor, even if its bad news.

swazi_matt -- With Spain winning the World Cup I wouldn't expect anything other than a week long holdiay, I'm serious.

Keg -- As far as GasGas' e-start development goes I've also been told that last year's e-start patent was turned down as it was to close to what KTM had and that a new design now has the green light to go ahead.

GMP -- I've also got pretty good information that they've more than turned the corner finacially as a company and are making money again. Of course that has come at a cost of downsizing and that is slowing down research and development a little.
