new to gas gas( questions - maybe someone can answer for me)

I just bought a 2010 GG 250 EC two stroke. I am trying to order new brake pads, but rocky mountain atv lists gasgas 2011-2103 250xc brake pads and doesnt say anything about prior years and I am confused that they say xc, not ec like my model. Will these pads fit my bike? and also can I use dot 5.1 brake fluid in my rear caliper? I ran it in my ktm because it has a higher boiling temp and it is compatible with dot 4. Also, any idea what kind of mileage I'll be getting at expert level race pace at a gncc with the stock tank? Thanks for the help!also, where is the best place to find parts for my bike!

Good thing to do is check the chassis sub-forum on pads, my guess is the caliper is the same, but you'll probably find some info in there.

It's funny you mention RM; I sent them feedback a while back complaining that they didn't even have Gas Gas listed as one of the manufacturers to chose; guess someone must have paid attention or they received enough requests to finally add us

+1 to what John said about Go Fasters too; they've been great when I needed various bits for our 2 bikes.

One suggestion since you mention fuel economy - get the head mod done by RB Design (or your local machinist). I was getting 38-40 miles per tank on my 200 at moderate trail pace; after the head mod I can get 50-55 miles running the same pace. Not only that, but it makes jetting MUCH easier.

Yep, Gofaster is your best hook up for parts. Quick and easy. Great folks.

You should get at least 50 miles on a stock tank riding hard pace. Just make sure you're jetting is sorted.

DOT 5.1 will work fine.

Congrats on the bike! '10 was the best looking bike IMO.

2010 Suzuki RMZ 450 has the same brake pads front and rear as GG 2010 through 2012 - maybe 13 and 14 too, not sure though.

I get about 80km (~50 miles) out of a tank at an XC race (Vet B pace). Our XC's are a lot tighter and slower than a GNCC course. That's on a 2010 300 with the AS1 carb.

Go to ferodo.com,select racing tab, enter vehicle info then look at the cross list below. That will show the compatible models of other brands that match your gasser. This tab will give you the brake pad part number for front and rear pads. Then just shop for them using the part number or use oem part number from the compatible list. I have a 2011 ec 300, the ec and xc are the same,and your 2010 is the same as the 2011 except for the color. The only difference might be suspension,sachs ohlins,and marzochi.

www.metalgear.com.au shows pad fitment for them too.

As stated, the nissin calipers are just that, and fitted to a load of japanese bikes. The parts crossover is huge. Certain models of honda, yamaha and suzuki all fit. For me having previously owned 04-05 WRFs I easily remember the gassers use the same front and rear. The 10-14 models are all the same. 09 models came with mixed rears (different length pad). Pre 09 the longer one.

John hit the nail on the head, literally. Check the squish and set the clearances - machine if required. It'll make it easier to jet and improve power and economy.

Those 48mm Sachs will want some massaging.

thanks everyone! big help! so far love the heck outta this bike. One ride on it and I'm ready to race it . ktm footpegs fit right on and rear rotor fit too. I just noticed last night there is some sort of steering lock mechanism built onto the frame with a key insert. Any idea what this is all about? Should I track down that key from the previous owner?
