Default Pipe options

Can anyone confirm if the 2014+ pipe (BE85000CT-CBX-1) is interchangeable with the 2012/13 pipe. (MPN: BE85000013012).

Listed price on the 12/13 is $100AUD more.. at a whopping $466

What after market options do we have? Recommendations?? I really like the OEM pipes. Other option is to repair what I have.

G'day Jake, I have a cone pipe I got from Richard at the house of horsepower in the states. Love the pipe and the increase in performance. Only problem I find is that rust seems to form on it pretty easily.
Regards
Josh

12-15 pipes are the same, all stamped BE3012.
I like the fmf pipe, little more low end grunt.
I have 2 stock pipes perfect and very good condition, not sure how much or how long to ship.

Jake
I got a package from Richard consisting of the pipe, silencer, new slide n jetting as well as a carbon fibre pipe guard for approx $700 usd. The pipe sits up higher where it comes out of the engine and isn't as prone to hitting logs n rocks as the standard pipe is. Exhaust note is way different from standard and tends to sound deaper and meaner than the standard pipe with less of that 'tingtingting' noise that two strokes make.
To be honest, many people may be happy to let the pipe go in regards to the rust and it is more of a problem when riding in wet conditions. It seems it speeds up the whole effect of rust n water on the pipe. A clean up with soapy steel wool n some wet n dry cleans it up n then some wd40 seems to keep it away till next ride.
The bike definitely seems to rev a lot harder with this pipe. I'll be getting one on my 2018 when they arrive..

I imagine the shipping could be steep.. I've enquired with our importer re availability, but I believe that's changing hands with the 2018 so could be a difficult time to source things here.

Time isn't super critical. It still ran OK from what I could tell. I didn't notice I had done the damage until I was washing the bike off. In hindsight she might have been signing off a bit early up top but I honestly don't keep it pinned that often anyway.

I have a P3 guard so keeping a stock pipe would allow me to carry that over.

I think the 2011 is a similar bend with a different pipe mount too.

Jake, I have the HoHP. As well as an fmf gnarly, and of course OEM. As I'm sure you know, jetting can change much of these characteristics. The OEM pipe is definately more well rounded. The Gnarly will give more bottom end and I believe is more durable. It's lasted the longest. The HoHP is sweet looking. Gives more over-rev but has a little less bottom. This could be due to the silencer more than anything. It looks like a 4t silencer. It's big ID makes it fairly loud. The HoHP has more ground clearance but it sticks out the sides a little further than the other two. Unfortunately for me this tends to be where I receive the most damage from dumping the bike in rocks.

From my experience in crushing pipes. I don't notice a difference in performance unless I kink the pipe at the first bend off the spigot. It will still run pretty good but a lot of times the pipe will leak at the spigot. Which makes a mess and you can smell exhaust in the slow stuff. Usually the power will just move around the rev range depending on how bad the dent or kink is.

Pacific Crest will repair any pipe for $60. Not sure how shipping would work out for you.

For most of my riding I'm at the bottom of the rev range in technical rocky stuff so I kind of like the fmf. Making more power here isn't really as important as the the occasional trip to the sand dunes, then I'll use the HoHP. Where the noise isn't an issue and I want more over-rev.

So that's my experience!

Oh, I've also put a 2013 pipe on an 05, and the only difference was the mount near the stinger. I just had to make a longer one.

The P3 guard will fit the FMF and OEM pipes.

Good info.

I got some leverage onto her and she's straightened out alright again. Definitely is some kinking at the header but it's alright.

I'll either salvage from the 2011 spares, or order up a new OEM and then send this one off to be repaired.

I think my damage has also come from a deep rut that I tried to bulldoze through. Out of a creek bed up a rooty step up followed by a big rut or a hard right hand turn. Poor line choice saw me come to a pretty abrupt stop. Think it's mainly pushed on on the left hand side. Also managed to crush the left footpeg in a bit too.

These things happen.
