Default Extra spark plug hole?

Wait what.....An extra spark plug hole in a cylinder head?

Ok, so what is this and why?

Looking for parts on ebay seen a head from a 2001 EC200 that was advertised with an extra spark plug hole.

Well being off of a 200, I doubt it was for a compression release... maybe someone was so bad with their jetting that they did that for quick changes when they fouled a plug?

on my 75 dt400 there are two holes on the top and one on the side, i think it was use to be popular when you could foul plugs fast but with better jetting and better motors it is not as common to foul a plug

Lots of 70's enduro bikes had 2 plugs in the head but only one had a wire to it unlike some performance snowmobiles from that era that actually fired both plugs in one chamber. I'd rather switch out a fouled plug than have it subjected to the overly rich mixture just hanging out inside there.

The old bikes that had 2 plugs were so you had one hole for a hot plug for off-road and the other for a colder plug when you rode it on the road without melting your piston
Looks like this one has be modified so it's easer to get at the plug on the trail
I wish my 13 factory 300 had an easier plug to get out

I thought it was for dropping in popcorn kernels for a quick tasty trail side snack?
