Default gasgas riders on kauai

I was just watching one of my subscribed vids on youtube and noticed a couple of gasgas riders.. I thought it works well for here. It just shows how gasgas are good for some technical riding too.

I rode an XR250 on Oahu (yes, poaching). Nasty, sweaty, technical, fantastic! jungle stuff. I sure was wishing that I was on my GG.
Those pig wallows sure are nasty. You don't want to go down in one (I did.).

Some of that looked tough in the dry - would be killer after rain!

You're done, even after a quick shower. That red clay is like ice when wet.
I was wishing I had my Trelleborg winter spikes on.

Here's one of the trails I rode. It's called the Chocho trail. I can't post why it's called that because of it being "politically incorrect" but it has to do with there being a lot of face slappers.

I rode a DRZ on Kauai with a guide, just the two of us so we hit some tuff stuff and went at a good pace. All day from the beach to the rim of the canyon and back. It was wild. Initially I was bummed having to ride a pig of a DRZ but it actually worked pretty well being soft on power and the weight made it feel planted. The "Hawaiian Ice" is hard to walk on much less ride on. I'd love to go back there.

Didn't know about the face slapper reason..sounds good to me but you know there are lots of weird trail names.
I don't know why it's named that either. I've got to ask around. My Dad would know. You do remember the trail because of it though. Actually this vid is of me riding my cr. When did you ride here? Did you ride with the hangonriders? They had a camp just above this area. I still ride it occasionally as this is close to my house. I started riding trail here with my Dad when I was around 10 .. now the trees are way taller (and I'm a lot older) but there still are those same rocks and roots that you will always remember riding.. and yes it's been raining so the trails are like riding on grease in a bunch of sections. Certain sections are just plain unmakeable. yea some trelleborgs with studs would work in those sections. Here is the hangonriders site. Some Hawaii guys left and moved to the Pacific northwest so now the hangonriders have expanded. Check out their site and maybe you'll see more of what you rode as there are pics back to the 80's and vids too.

Funny you should say that. He's still riding and he's still fast and tough. He's here saying a prayer at the start of the first "End of the World" hare n hound race that was on Dec 9, 2012.
