Default Front sprocket play?

I have an 06 EC250 & was replacing the chain & noticed some free play in the front sprocket it moves a MM or 2 in each direction before moving the output shaft. I removed it & the shaft & sprocket didn't look worn. Is this normal?
Thanks

Some play is normal. It will be the same on a new bike as well as a 6 year old one.
