Default Hi, newbie with EC125 tm racing 98' (I think?)

Hi all,

I recently purchased what I believe is a gas gas EC125 98' with a tm racing engine. (Or at least I think I have)

I purchased the bike very cheap and in need of fixing up.

I know very little about the older gas gas range and cannot find much info on them using a tm racing engine either. I have an 8 digit frame number (1 letter, 3 numbers, 2 letters, 2 numbers) which resembles no year what so ever.

Someone has told me it's a 96 and others 98-2000 model which isn't helping me when ordering parts.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

Is it an enduro or mx model ? The ignition cover looks deep like the enduro version with the lighting coils and bigger rotor, not sure. The mx piston had one ring and the enduro two rings and a taller sixth gear. I had a tm 125 mx, which was v. fast, but new piston ring every few hours got annoying.

Mike at tmuk is the man for parts and knowledge of all things tm http://www.tmukonline.net/ (engine parts diagrams on the site).

I've found Dave at Biketech very good for GG http://www.biketechuk.co.uk/ and GGUK are ok for parts also. Unsure what the outcome of the GG bankruptcy will be regarding parts for the older bikes.

'96 not shown on the GG Spain site, but '97 and '98 look similar

It has an enduro tank so it could possibly be an enduro. I'll give those chaps a nod to see if they can shed some light on it too.

Thanks for the reply

Dan

Looks like a '96. Great bike in its day. The TM engine was head and shoulders above the Gas Gas 125 engine, in a better chassis than the TM. I remember those days. I was riding a KTM 125. E-1 class rocks!
