2013 300XC

+/-5000ft elevation.
40 Pilot.
NEDW on the 3rd clip.
165 Main.
Air screw is 2.5 turns out.
Float Height 8.0mm
50:1 with Opti2 and 93 Octane.

Typically start and end my day in 2nd gear. All my riding is rocky single track switchbacks, hard packed trails, lots of roots and technical riding rather than speed. I've found the changes made to the jetting have really reduced the engine loading up with oil, the bike starts great, warms up in reasonable time, doesn't splooge at all, throttle response is linear and the hit has really been mellowed out. Best for me is with this jetting I have no need to keep tweaking the settings. Within reason, regardless of temperature, elevation, or humidity in my riding area I find these settings to cover all my requirements. Ride and go.

Default 12 250

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bike year & model = 12 xc250
Temperature (degF) = 60F
Elevation (feet) = sea level
Main jet = 178
Pilot jet = 42
Needle & notch = JD blue needle clip#3
Air screw setting = 1 1/4 out
Throttle valve/slide = 6.5 slide

Results: Carb AS 1 38mm, 40-1 pre-mix, engine mods, FMF gnarly pipe and check point power valve cover.
This setting has taken me a while, think I've tried about every suggested needle on this site. Needed to change slide to get the results I wanted. Nice smooth, strong power from bottom to top.

Bike year & model = 15 300r estart
Carb=AS1 (screw top)
Temperature (degF) = 15-30c
Elevation (feet) = sea level to 1000'
Main jet = 175
Pilot jet = 42
Needle & notch = N3CJ clip#3
Air screw setting = 2 1/2 out
Throttle valve/slide = 7
Float height=16.5mm

As delivered (dealer jetting, not GG). Blubbery but nice to ride and rips from 1/8th up, very tractable but 8.1Km per Litre, did better in sand due to on the needle the whole time. Also lost my breather hose half way and tipped it over on hills a couple of times, so float level and tank loss would not have helped.

Blubber gone, slightest hint on crack of throttle, much better response, whole rev range crisper. Will evaluate on proper ride soon re range.

Bike year & model = 2014 EC300R E-start

Carb: 38mm PWK ASII carb

Engine: Modified head running 1.3mm squish, 1 x .5mm base gasket. CR unknown, slightly higher then stock - approx 12.5:1.

Temperature (degC) = 25 - 30 degC

50% humidity

Elevation (feet) = 300m.

Main jet = 178

Pilot jet = 40

Leak jet = 85

Needle & notch = N3CJ #3

Air screw setting = 1.4 turns out

Throttle valve/slide = 7 non-notched

Results:
Good strong idle, wicking the throttle response wis close to perfect. There is so much more torque with this jetting, I was lugging it up hills in second that the NEDJ needle would have required first gear for. Whilst there is a slight blubber under load its not too bad and doesn't load up too much. The top end is so much better using the N3 needle, from low revs in 4th gear it rolls on smooth and predictable before exploding into an awesome top end. There is a bit of a lull before it comes onto the pipe, I have a feeling half a clip leaner would do the trick, will experiment another time.
Fuel use was 4.5l for 58k's = 12.8k's per Litre.

Bike year & model = 2013 EC 300R with e start
Temperature (degF) =26C = 80 oddF
Elevation (feet) =less than 500ft
Main jet = 175
Pilot jet =40
Needle & notch =N3CJ #3
Air screw setting =1.5
Throttle valve/slide =standard ( 7 i think)

Results:no bloody good!
Bike was running OK, with the 0-1/8 splutter. With the 40PJ I could NOT get it to idle at all.I had this problem with my 2010 too.I put the 42 back in-> all good.
Looks like I'll have to accept the slightly annoying splutter/burble and never touch it again!
So, what works is:
Bike year & model = 2013 GG EC 300R with e start
Temperature (degF) =80
Elevation (feet) =500
Main jet = 175
Pilot jet =42
Needle & notch =N3CJ#3
Air screw setting =1.5
Throttle valve/slide =7

Results:back to its normal self.End of quest.

hold on a minute gibbo...quest not over!
Bike year & model = 2013 300 EC Race/E
Temperature (degF) =86
Elevation (feet) =300
Main jet = 175
Pilot jet =40
Needle & notch =NECW#3
Air screw setting =1.5
Throttle valve/slide =7

Results:Was only around the block a few times, but...Started( no choke, but then it is 30 oddC), instantly and settled into an idle immediately.Warmed bike up and blatted around the streets. Still a bit of burble off the bottom BUT seemed smoother and had a pretty decent hit up top.
Why an NECW? Cos I've got one of them- the others being N3EG x2, N3CJ, NECW,N1EG and I thought ( well, after reading n_green, jakobi's posts) if I go richer on the straight section , I'd better lean the PJ ( which is not what I did the other day-N3CJ and swapped a 42 for a 40-no good).
Hopefully take it for a ride in next couple of days.

Edit: went for a ride today: 20 C , pouring with rain.NECW#3,40 PJ, AS 1.5, main 175. Started, idled and lugged great. The , after a couple of hours, the idle started to hand.Fiddled with AS ( turned it in a bit), settled.
Got home and cleaned her, thought I might lower the needle and when I took the slide out, it was a bit 'stuck'- white greasy stuff on the back of it.mmmm.Had a look at the airfilter, was a bit wet.So I think I may have taken a bit of water on board! All cleaned out, new filter. Also had a look at the plug, it was dry but black ( mostly). Not surprising as I tootled around most of the time, dont even think I got on the pipe!

Bike year & model = 2013 300R/E
Temperature (degF) =70
Elevation (feet) =200
Main jet = 175
Pilot jet =42
Needle & notch =NECW #2
Air screw setting =1.5
Throttle valve:7

Results:Changed the PJ to a 42 as I was 1 or thereabouts turns out on the AS.Idle kept hanging with the 40.Put in the 42 and it needed a bit more out on the AS and was a bit rich. So, I dropped the needle to #2 ( from 3).
Admittedly I only rode round the block a few times ( sorry Stanmore-ians) but it felt good.Very smooth.
Oh JG's top tip: if you havent got a air compressor, a bike pump with a presta valve attachment is perfect for blowing air through the PJ!

Carb=AS1 (screw top)

Maxima 927 40:1

This jetting is unreal. You could probably just squeeze a 35 in but you'd lose the torque. Now to adjust the pipe hit with the pv.
