Hey Jake, just give the old spring an extra extension tweek.

I had the clutch and side cover off mine the other day to repair the broken weld that holds the shift shaft to the bottleopener(selector fork thingy).A weak point but easily fixed.

Thanks for the advice. I had thought of that too. I'm pricing up what a new one is worth still and will probably just replace it and keep the old one as a sparey..

How long till you're over here for the NT ride?

Like I said those springs have been a variable for years. Just get a new one and try it. Somewhere I have close up pics of the bad rachet and gear I replaced on my '07, I'll have to dig them up. Not on my NAS or Photo Stream, maybe an old SD card somewhere.

I have the old gears and rachet too. Can take pics. Its only ever so slight but would still not engage properly on occassion. I'm curious if a new spring would have cured that too.

Just an update. Still haven't done anything with the kick starter spring and it seems to be working just fine. Engines still running strong and nothing has exploded yet. Had the pipe off yesterday and had a peek in the exh port. All looks good with no signs of blow by! Hour meter is around 315hrs in toal.

And a few months on she's still kicking. Yeww! Another ride or two and it'll be time for a fresh piston again. I might kick the thread back to life with some piston pics. This ones mostly seen time using the apt smart carb at various settings, however currently gone back to the PWK at my standard settings of 40 N3CW#3 178.

Wasn't me.. We cut in a small section of new trail between 2 ridge lines. Drop in on one side, bomb a small mound in the middle, land between 2 trees on the gas and then into a small verticle step up into the other side. Pretty fun. This was a mate just sitting at the small step up. Pretty sure the camera does make it look worse than it was though.
