yep newer panels 01- 06 will fit.
airbox would need to be changed or modified to fit newer airbox panels.

Correct! I forgot about that. I first made suitable piece of old left numberplate to cover that hole in airbox. That was good but not perfect.

Then I bought newer airbox. That was not expensive at all (few dollars).

The biggest job was to mount and stack new airbox. You need to release subframe to do that.

thanks... that bike was at a friend of mines shop that got into gas gas in that era, 2000-2003 ish. there were 2 of those 300's setting side by side when i bought mine. I bought it in late 2007 and i am the original owner on the mso.. it was like brand new when i got it... very nice... as it ended up a friend of mine bought the other one... rode with him and that bike saturday...

the kick lever is a yz 250 Yamaha YZ -
part number 5NX-15620-00

it makes it very easy to start... still have the oe too. I was tearing up my boot on the rh peg.. kinda hard to describe, but watch your foot when you kick it.. the yamaha lever clears the peg...
