I have no problem with the Utah Cycle Sport skid plate. I've had one on my 99 since I got the bike. I did however silicone 2 strips of 1/2 foam insluation to the skid plate under the frame tubes. I noticed that cut down on engine / frame noise. Replacement frame clips / bolts can be had through Moose.

Any feed back on how any of, or all of these brands of aluminum skid plates are attached.
That is my biggest concern, as the crd was just attached by 2 points the front and the back. The back mount being a part of the skid plate and bent toward the front of the machine and hooked over the frame cross member. Which in turn if your going forward witch most do on a motorcycle, and you hit the plate and the front aluminum T style mount isn't able to withstand the impact the back one does nothing to help the front mount it just slides off the bike and wallah there goes your $100 pretzel. Stupid design IMO.
The way I hit G outs and case it repeatedly I need multiple attaching points like the frame spars too. I am really rough on skid plates.
A few of my buddies often comment about it and tell story's of how they were chasing me and next thing they know my skid plate is flying back at them, as if my roost wasn't enough.
Any info would be appreciated as I will be in the market for one in the next week or so for my new 08.

The newer CRD plates have the rear tab pointing backwards so the slide off issue is allieveated. I like mine OK. I didn't know Utah CS made one for the gassers....they're stuff looks nice. You'll want to make sure and cushion your frame tubes between the plate otherwise you'll get some horrible vibration/noise.

The Utah Sport has 3 attachments, 2 in the front and 1 in the rear of the plate. Mine has taken some pretty hard abuse and has never came off or came loose for that matter.

I got my Hyde combo today. It looks like it mounts to the frame in the front with a double c clamp, in the back with two c clamps and to the pipe with two hose clamps. All the hardware looks to be stainless and it came with closed cell foam to stuff the nooks and crannies with, nice details I thought. Can't wait to put it on!

Paul,

I wonder if you got new mounts. Post a photo of the mounts if you have time. I just made a new front T Bar mount. The problem is that the cases are close to the frame in the area that the front mount must fit, so you have to use the thin stainless, I just backed it up with thicker aluminum etween the tubes.

Looks like you got both old and new mounts! I didn't get the single curve type clamps, just the double and the single angle ones.

Is the Hyde Combo unit available (or will it fit) '05 and older 250 ecs and mcs? I don't see anything but '06 and '07 listed on the Hyde site.

And another newbie question... These bikes I just picked up all have FMF fatty pipes. I assume these were aftermarket so how does that affect fitment/availability when considering a skidplate/pipe guard combo?
