Clutch Adjustment

I cant seem to find anything in the manual about hydraulic clutch adjustment for my 05 FSE450.


I want to widen the range in which the clutch engagement happens as i let the lever out. Is there any bolt or adjustment i could turn/do to acomplish this? It seems to be that the engagement is only over an inch or so of the lever movement, and I sometimes stall the bike because of it. It is rare now that I have had it for a while, but just wondering.

Hi there anathema. It's been quite a while since I saw any lifesigns from you. I thought you left the spanish brand.

There's no such adjustment opportunity as far as I know, but there are som trigonometry issues you could address: If your lever adjustments are set to have the lever very far from the handlebar, the adjuster screw angle might in fact alter the lever to pump arm ratio. I'll post an explanatory pic later on.

Or you could try to find a smaller displacement clutch pump.

Hmm, after looking at the pic I must have been mistaken. My initial idea was that by changing the adjuster screw in the green arrow direction, the distance market by the red arrow would increase thus altering the lever/pump arm ratio. But the distance between the lever pivot point and the clutch pump plunger is not changed(yellow line), so the change would be consumed by the flex of the plunger pusher (angle shown by cyan line)

Thanks for the reply, havent left the brand no way I love this bike.

My main riding buddy had a street getoff on his yamaha dualsport(carb got stuck at full throttle, he had just got the engine rebuilt so he tried to pull the rpms down to save the motor by using the brake, but the front wheel washed out, doh haha) and broke both wrists and his collar bone so my riding season ended there except for a couple rides here and there.

Yeah I looked at those adjustments and I could move the lever a bit closer or further from the bar a bit, but doesnt change the adjustment range. I was hoping there would be a bolt on the engine side that did something I didn't know about.

On an unrelated note, I have disintegrated the cheap plastic stock glide plate, so need to get either a hyde plastic plate or a B&B aluminum one. I cant find B&B's site to save my life, happen to have that?
