Default 2010 sixdays jetting

Hello

Sorry if this has been covered before but i just want some opinions from people on my jetting. Bike is a 2010 ec300 sixdays model with no engine mods but bike internals in good condition. Currently running

N1EF needle clip 3
175 main
38 pilot
A/s 1.75 turns out

Live in the uk so elevation is around sea level and temps from -10 to 30 degrees centigrade at extremes. Currently finding the bike lacks bottom end power but hits hard onto the pipe and goes like a train once there. No hesitation etc on the throttle.

Trying to find a smoother needle that has more linear power for extreme type riding and have read many forums on here and by the sounds of it the necj suzuki needle or n3cj yamaha needle is what i want with the same main jet and a 42 pilot. What i would like to know is will the suzuki needle be alot smoother than the yam needle or are they very similar and what does the bile ride like power wise with these two needles in?

Thanks

Coxy

I guess you will have to test them both to suit your needs.
I've settled with N3CJ (178,42) even though the suzuki needle is described more linear (175,40) in similar conditions.
Since with NECJ you won't have to change jets... try it first

I have the N3CJ in my '13 with the squish cut and a FMF Gnarly pipe and it's about as linear as you can get, its almost boring, the hit is so mild.

Thanks for your replies that is exactly the response i was looking for. Going to give the n3cj needle a try this weekend and see how i get on with it. I may order the suzuki needle too and give them both a test to give me a comparison. Does the main and pilot of 175 and 42 with needle on third clip sound about right then for my bike?

Cheers

Yep.i had a 2010 with1.3 mm squish, 42/n3cj#3/175 or178. Ran great ( australia). Have a look in the jetting thread.

What is the average humidity there? Its often overlooked but IMO based on testing I've done humidity plays a bigger role then temp and elevation.
EG- 44 degC day, 10% humidity (extreme fire danger day) I jetted my bike perfectly, next time I rode it was 20 degC and 75-85% humidity and it was so rich it was unrideable.

Back on topic, generally the 'J' diameters run with a 42 pilot in the 300's, the Suzuki NE needles will generally be smoother compared to the Yam N3 needles when both are jetted correctly, however the N3xx needle IMO provides a torquier bottom end and a more exciting top end. Just keep it in clip 3, clip 2 or higher and the transition can be pretty savage and won't be fun in extreme technical stuff. The Suzuki needle in contrast is so smooth it can be boring, there never seems to be a hit of power and its probably the closest '4 stroke type' power you'll get from the engine.

As you suggested, buy both and play.

Note that both will take the same pilot but the N3xx needle will usually want a size or two larger main compared with the NExx needle.

I've spent hours looking through the jetting thread and that's where I've got the conclusion that the two needles mentioned are the ones i want to try. n_green that is exactly the response i was looking for I've ordered the Suzuki necj needle and have put the n3cj needle in the bike and I'm going out on it this weekend so will hopefully have both to try.

Settings im going to try are

N3CJ needle middle clip
175 mj
42 pj
1.5 turns a/s

and then go from there with dialling it in. once I've got it dialled in I'll try the necj needle and get that dialled in. I'll write both settings down and then decide which one i like the most and use that.

humidity in the UK is generally above 50% with it been a lot higher in the winter. today its currently at 98%!

Cheers!

Just an update. Been out on the bike today and with a 175 main jet the plug was white and felt very zingy. This to me says the bike is running lean. Went to a 178 main jet which i was hoping would clean the top end up but after around 6-10 laps of the track i came in from riding and did another plug chop and the plug was still a whitish colour so am i still lean on the main jet. The n3cj needle seemed to be alot better compared to the n1ef needle and the bike seemed to ride ok with the 178 main jet on clip 3 with a 42 pilot jet with a/s 1.5 turns out. What would you reccomend doing with the plug been white in colour

Cheers
