Default Club Cadet Mowers

Anyone have any experience with them.....I'm in the market for a new mower and I like the swivel front wheels.

Thanks

my club cadet hasn't met my expectations in terms of performance, the motor was lacking in the slightest of over growth and the air filter would get clogged up on a regular basis and it wasnt even that dusty.the handle is the same and isnt fixable anymore so i needed a new one. i did some research on the mower forums and the honda(of course) is the consensus for the best but i wouldnt spend that much money so i went with the toro super recycler and am very pleased i did. this sucker is solid and you can tell its quality and built to last!

According to Consumer Reports, Honda, Troy-Built, Craftsman and Toro are the most reliable self-propelled mowers. Cub Cadet is the worst with John Deere and Snapper not far off.

John deere is a mixed signal on that front.. there is two lines.. the crap you buy at lowes/Home depot, which actually is the same as scotts, sabre, lawn boy, troy built, cub cadet and poulan and several others. and the good line that cost twice as much. You spend the $500-2500 on a low grade tractor and you get one,, no matter who makes it. John deere used to not be in that market. They bought most of the smaller companies and still produce them and now produce lower grade JD mowers for the lower price point also. Go see the $4-8k price range JD mowers, water-cooled multi cylinder, fuel inj, or diesel.. True hydrostatic drive with pto access front rear and center, and optional 4wd.. or just go get a good zero turn and you'll be happy. Just dont buy at a home improvement store..go to a equipment specialist..

I used to live on the same street as a cub cadet dealer. There was a big fancy subdivision at the end of the road. All the wealthy people bought shiney new CC's. All spring and summer there was a steady stream of mowers running down the road for service. My next door neighbor had one as well, it was a pile of crap. It nickel and dimed her to death.

IMHO, find a good Husqvarna dealer and buy one with a Kawasaki engine and the plate steel lifetime warranty deck. Not the crappy ones at home depot. Husky is just like JD, they have a dealer only line(commercial grade) and then a big store line(junk).

If not Husq, then Simplicity or a Gravely.

I have a Craftsman riding mower I bought new in 2008. I have never had to do anything to it, still on the original battery haha. We have about 3/4 of an acre with lots of rocks and roots, it's been pretty tough. I had a small Snapper riding mower before it that burned oil like crazy near the end, but in its defense it was probably 20 years old and never had any maintenance other than yearly oil changes.

How many acres do you need to mow? We have 2 Scag zero turns with the liquid Kawasaki V twins. Very HD mowers, tough as nails and mow fast.

I have a small Cub push mower that has been fine and mulches great. I know CC isn't what they were years ago.
