Angry '07 GG and Clarke Tank

It looks like it a no go for the Clarke Tank working with the '07 seat.

It appears that the front of the seat is something like 1" too long for the tank.

Anybody else tried this??

Given this - sounds like the existing clarke 4 stroke tank will not work on the '07 fse/fsr as well?

It would be nice if they can come up with a new mold for the '07 tank that allows it to still be backward compatible. e.g. so that it will fit '01 through '07, etc. Sounds like this might be difficult.

For what it's worth the 07 frame and fuel tank numbers are the same as the 06s it's just that the expanded top of the Clarke tank interfers with the front of the seat.

The 06 and 07 shrouds are still interchageable. It doesn't make sense but trust me we tried to make it work.

Hopefully Clarke will offer the new tank for the 07 two-strokes and four-strokes.

That sucks. Can the seat be modified? Otherwise I will have a tank for sale.

Break out the heat gun and modify the tank.

We got a tank from an 05 FSE to go on the 07 FSR for a race this weekend but it wasnt easy and it isnt right, but with 50 miles to pit we werent taking any chances. The shrouds from 05 to 07 on the 4st are different as well as the seat problem that berky talks about on the 2st.

Hey Berkyboy did you guys ever find a way to fit the '07 seat with a Clarke tank? Also are there any high seats available for the '07's yet?

We have a used Clarke tank sitting around that I think we'll give a try one of these days. I have a feeling it won't look pretty.

Default Clarke tank on an 07

I got the clarke tank to work on the 07's, but with some modifications! First I had to cut a new aluminum upper mount (shorter than the original), shove the tank forward which causes it to sit up off the frame alittle and use a 1/4 inch spacer beneath the mount. I saw that the factory WEC riders do this anyway. I also found that I had to use the 06 shrouds (it still looks really good). After this, use a little man power and the seat goes right on. Leave it sit over night and it conforms perfectly. It is a tempory, inexpensive solution, at least until Clarke makes something new!
