I'm pickin' up bad vibrations, need new bars?
On my 05 de250. I have the stock GasGas (Hebo?) bars. Are these notorious for transmitting vibes? If so, I need help finding some bars that:
1) cut down on vibes 2) are already cut down narrow (~30 in) so I don't have to 3) maybe a high bend? I need to raise the bars, thought that might help a little. I'd also like to raise the bars an inch or two, but I just can't see spending $100 on some risers. I know there are aftermarket KTM risers for ~$40. Are there other options? Thanks -GT |

I rode a bike with Flexx bars the other day. Very nice, but I don't have $300 to spend. |

Vibe-dampening is my top priority.

The SunLine bars are supposed to be the best as far as reducing vibrations.
The FlexxBars does not reduce vibrations. BRP does have rubber mounted triple clamps for the Gas Gas'. I saw SunLine bars advertised for $50. |

It sounds like your going with narrrower and taller bars no matter what suggestions are made here concerning vibrations which is fine as narrower bars taller bars work better for most riders...
....but also make sure and check for loose nuts and bolts on all of the engine motor mounts and swingarm pivot axis as this normally is the cause of vibrations in the handlebars. Also check the two engine stays for cracks where the attach between the head and the frame.

The vibes are in the pegs as well. I don't know if this is normal for this bike...it's certainly not as bad as my aluminum-framed CR250 was.Maybe I'll just go with the Sunline bars. And I went over all the bolts on my bike and everything is taut. Only mods I have done were head + carb mod and flatland rad guards. I wouldn't think those mods would increase the vibes, or would they? On a different note, are the Tusk universal bar risers worth buying? Only $20!

I have the sunline bars, brp triple with rubber mounted sub mount and thick silicone grips.
Only good, good, good...good vibrations!

I dissagree with GGman. I think the Flex Bars do a decent job of reducing vibes. What really helped on my last bike(02) was spending a couple hours at rebuild time centering the crank between the cases. That motor had very few if any vibration, way smoother and quieter than my new bike (07).

Peb-it's a new bike. Is it possible the crank would need to be centered...from the factory?

Yes, most need it to some degree. No reasaon to tear into just something to do when you have reason.
