Ec 300 getting hot
Hi there another question about this.
I have ec 300r 2012 and i have mounted a new piston and also fixed the squish so its around 1,45mm. The bike runs fine, but when i run like extreme enduro it goes up to 100 degrees. On normal road it is around 75-80. I have bigger cooling system, extra intercooler, and a new waterpump steel gear. The spark plug looks good. I had a B piston before and now i got i C piston, could it be to tight? I thought that 2 stroke would go cooler then 4 stroke, had the same problem with my yamaha wr 450 also. I hade run with this 20 hours now. Thanks for help |

1.45mm is very hard.
How much is the volume in head now? Did u measure the cylinder? C could be too tight if u dont know the play between cylinder and piston. |

the head is original. Maybe i i will try to switch back piston, and add a 0,2mm gasket. |

With the original head you shouldn't go below 1.8mm

How did u set ur squish to 1.55mm? With thin base gasket?

I've got the original head... Much smaller squish, just have to make sure you make up for it by removing volume from the expansion chamber. Squish serves to cool the engine, not heat it up...

Yes its a thin gasket now.And the head is not shaved. I will try to get a thicker and go over 1,8 mm. and hope it is not
the piston size also, i have run it 30 hours now, with no difference in performance. |

How is the water pump impeller? There are threads on some of the older impellers melting. Do you have the plastic radiator louvers and are they installed correctly? The aluminum braces with the holes reduce air flow.
Make sure the plastic tank shrouds fit tightly to the radiators and do not have a gaps that will allow air to flow around the radiator instead of through the radiator. If there are gaps you can use foam pieces to fill the gaps. |

The water pump impeller is an extra upgrade from motocross center.com.
I have changed the squish to 2,0 mm and the bike seems to run a little bit cooler. Have less bottom and more top now. I dont know about your normal temp? |

Is your water pump impellor rubbing on the cover? I shaved it back a bit and noticed it ran cooler
Normally runs at 55 degrees now |
