Default New owner of a 99 EC 300

It looks like I will be picking up a 99 EC 300 later this week.

It is actually in very good shape overall. But the plastics are kinda beat.
Will plastics from a 2000 fit the 99?
And for that matter how much else will cross over between those 2 years.

When I look at the parts fische on gofasters it only goes back to 2000. So I'm really hoping that there is alot of changeover between those years.

Thanks!!!

Thanks Harry,

Less specifically are the 99 and 00 bikes essentially the same?
Or were there major model year changes between the two?

from what I have seen... the 99 and 2000 are a lot different.. the fuel tank and shrouds are not even close.. I think I read on here where you can change it all, but the main thing to make sure is what you have.

these bikes are euro vin#... so it is not easy to quickly say what those vintage bikes even where.. I have seen 99 sold as 2000's and the other way around..

this was my 2 old bikes.. blue is an 01.. red (pink) is a 2000

the earlier bikes looks more like the red one, but there is more of the fuel tank above the frame.. here is one on here... ricks.. which is a nice 200

post up a pix.. there are a lot smarter guys than me ....

welcome

I haven't been able to pick up the bike just yet. But here is a pic the owner posted in the ad.

He had a owners manual there. I should have taken a better look, but I assumed that he had the year correct.

I am re-doing a 1999 right now and by the looks of that pic is is definitely a 99. I believe the engine is mostly the same up until the 11 or 12 so most parts from the engine itself are useable. If I'm incorrect I'm sure someone will correct me. plastics and other parts will be different but everything I have needed I have been able to find so far. Good luck and enjoy it. I loved mine so much I decided to do a tear down and re-build. That bike looks very clean for a 99.

Congrats on the new ride. I have been wondering about some of the same things on my 98 ec250

I was able to bring her home today. Pulled off the stickers right away

Will be doing a quick teardown this weekend and getting it ready to ride.
Going to need:
-Tires
-Chain
-Different handgaurds
-Bar risers
-General cleanup
-Change all fluids

The boot between the carb and engine is looking old. I'm going to do a temporary seal for now but I need to get one ordered.
Also it's looking a bit messy around the pipe/engine junction I'll do a quick cleanup for now but I'm guessing it needs new O-rings.

Long term, I would like to order the plastic update kit. I know I'll need a different tank to make it work but I would like to get a oversize tank anyways. I have a magura master brake cyl on the shelf I'd like to get that swapped on. And eventually I will go through the suspenion, either updating the current stuff or swapping to newer components. I have a set of 45mm upside down zokes and a sachs shock hanging around so swapping those on is always a option.

As usual advice is welcome
