Default New owner, Have I got this right?

Hi guys,

Fantastic forum

Just picked up a 1998 GasGas EC250 to get back into it.

Am I right in thinking that the plastics are from a 94-98 kx except the radiator shrouds which are unique to the gasser of that year (and impossible to buy online?) and that the 01- onwards plastics just do not fit

Thanks in advance

Ping Cruiser, he has a '97 and may have something, also knoweledge of that vintage. You can use the newer plastic but you have to change the tank, which means you have to have the head spigot modified for clearance. Newer heads will not fit as bolt pattern is different on the older 250 cylinder castings ('99+ 250/300 cyl casting is bigger). A hassle, but in the end you end up with a much more modern flatter riding position. With enough parts you can take it all the way to current plastic, its been done.

Thanks for the info. Maybe a bit of a dumb question, but could you explain exactly why I have to change the tank. Is it due to brackets etc or are there other reasons? What about the rear end? Will the 03-06 plastics fit that?
