Ec250 Output Shaft seal
Just about to fit engine casing but noticed that the is 2 O-ring seal on out put shaft and also the sprocket seal.
I have pushed sprocket seal into casing but was wondering when I fit the metal bush with the two o-rings. Do I fit bush and o-rings onto output shaft first?? Or do I fit casing with sprocket seal and then push the the o-rings and bush in afterwards???? I read the workshop manual but doesn't mention the 2 o-rings??? |

This shows bearing - seal - 2 o-rings together and another seal? Maybe part 23 is the bushing, that would make more sense. |

Yes 23 in the parts fiche is the bushing. It has a groove cut into one side to accommodate the o-ring. Both O rings go onto the shaft and the bush pressed in past the outer seal. If the bushing is grooved where the seal lip seats consider replacing it.

Yes the bush in talking about has a groove on one side where both o-rings sit.
Ok, il fit casing, and then slide o-rings onto shaft and then push bush into lip seal. just wondering (for future reference), is it possible to change lip seal externally??? Do I just remove bush, and then pull lip seal??? All help is much appreciated!! |

Would you recommend one or two reed block gaskets??
There's 2 in my kit |

that is about 1/4 inch thick aluminum plate. I don't think the 200 and 250 have the spacer so only use one of the gaskets between the cylinder and reed block. Jeff |

The way I've done it on a few bikes is get a small wood screw. Screw it into the seal then use pliers to pull the seal out. Don't go too deep or you'll knick your bearings.
