Question Things a new 2T owner needs?

I've started compiling a list of various things a new 2-stroke owner (or any bike really) would need to purchase so they're covered for the routine maintenance stuff.

Without jumping off the deep end from the $$$ side, what's a solid list of "stuff" that a new bike owner would need?

Here's what I have so far - you can see it's a pretty diverse list. Please feel free to add things; I know I'm forgetting a bunch.

Tie downs
Ramp
Stand
Fuel can
Hour meter
Air filter oil
2T premix oil
Tranny oil
Chain lube
Basic set of metric tools (sockets, wrenches, allen heads, etc)
Spare air filter (nice, but not a must initially)
Spare tubes

Spare levers are nice.
Tire levers too if you have spare tubes.

Good barkbusters will save you buying levers and broken fingers.

Get at least one pre oiled air filter.

Its all very personal, and routine maintenance varies from one person to the next.

For instance someone new might have enough on their plate doing oil changes and air filters, others might do their own tyres as well. Others are happy enough doing top ends, but not bottoms. Some ship the suspension out to be serviced, which would be routine maintenance for another.

The list of tooling grows with the workload, and thats before you start accounting for spares on hand, and trail toolkits/bumbags.

Essentially though, bare minimum to get the bike apart and back together there are a few things I'd list.

3/8" socket set (6 point preferably).
spanner set
screw driver set
allen keys/drive bits
set of pliers (needle nose, circlip, etc).

With those you'll get most of the jobs done. From there I'd add a whole heap of others tools I would consider purpose built/for convenience.

The spares/consumables you carry also vary depending on what you can afford, and how quickly you can source parts if in a pickle. As a minimum you'd consider whats been said already, maybe a spare tube (and levers), some oils, lubricants, and cleaning products.

For me personally, I carry a complete engine gasket kit (inc seals and o-rings). Multiple head o-rings and cylinder gaskets. A fresh spare piston, and a used piston and cylinder. Suspension components (seals, bushings, fluids). A stack of fresh tyres, rimlock, and a tube or two. Wheel bearings and seals as well. Not forgetting spare brake pads and pins. Thats before you get into the specialty tooling I've aquired over time.

The method that has worked for me was to start with the basics, and as you learn what you need to do, what wears out, when things happen, etc the list of spares and tools grow with the knowledge base. Often its more cost effective to invest time and dollars into acquiring the knowledge than to pay someone else... but not everyone has the passion or time (so again, that becomes very personal too).
