Default 2012 KTM 300XC vs 2011 EC300

Well I finally rode my friends 2012 KTM 300XC, i was really surprised how much more I like my GasGas. I thought the Gasser has more motor bottom to mid, I liked the way the Gasser turned, seemed easier and more confident. The suspension was even better but I think he did not have his set up as good as it could have been. We were in tight single track with some open stuff.
Like I said very surprised, got to say just love the GasGas, what a great bike!

Thats cool. I've only had a very short ride on a KTM 300 2-stroke and felt the same way. Hey did he ride your GG and if so what did he have to say?

yes he did ride my gasgas and immediately commented on the motor. I think he was impressed. I really did not want to go overboard on him. I was the one asking for my bike back first.

Thats funny about the motor deal because when I was first asking questions about a GG I was told (on another site) that the motors were "soft" and only "trail" bike motors. Having had my 2010 GG300 for some time now, I have a smooth power delivery which I like but it's NOT lacking in the power deapartment.

Is that a 2011 KTM XC? Or a 2012 xcw? I see it's got PDS. Nice view!

Yeah, I noticed that too.....no wonder it didn't handle as well as the GG.

that is a 2011 XC (black side panels, PDS on new frame for 11' which changed to linkage in 12')

When I had my 09 300XCW I hated the engine...just didnt run right down low with a pretty large hit if jetted cleanly (lots of guys jet rich to knock the hit down) whereas the 09 300EC i spent a day on was perfect. In fact, I told quite a few on KTMTalk that the 300 GG engine is what KTM should be shooting for. just a great, great engine and handled extremely well also
