removal of water pump seal
I have a 2001 Pampera with a problem with gear oil getting contaminated with water which looks to be due to a faulty water pump seal. I have bought a new seal kit.
After managing to get the two water pump cover screws off (had seized!!) and removing the impellor blade, I can't work out how to get the old seal out. It seems well and truly jammed into position. My efforts so far have completely destroyed it so I have got to get it off and replace it. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance. |

I don't know which side it goes in on your model, but it should just pop out with a light levering with a screwdriver or whatever you have. I've done a few changes of these (my 280 GG included) and it was a simple job. Check the impeller shaft though. When the seal goes, it usually marks up the shaft, or the shaft tears the seal. Either way, if there is any galling on the shaft, replace it too. The 280's parts were pretty reasonable $.
