Talking kickstarter

just thought i would let you guys know, i have a 2000 xc300 and it came with that pitiful 125cc kick-starter and i was blowing starts in my hare-scrambles. so looking on the crossover list on this site i found the yamaha one. my dealer crossed this over to a new 06 yz250 (2 stroke) kick-starter and it works awesome no modifications at all, just bolt on.thank god for this web site

I've been running the steel Pampera starter that has finally worn out after more than 3 years. I priced the YZ starter locally, dealer said $168. Sounds high, what did you pay?

Try ronayers.com for the Yamaha kicker - price is about $76.

Wow, that was near a $100 error on the dealers part! Like Jeff said in another thread I think he quoted me the price of the kick gear assy not the kick crank assy. I just ordered one.

Wow, $76 is a good price. I paid about $95 for mine. I really like the kickstarter, makes kicking it over much easier.

I used the pampera kickstart lever and was not very satisfied. I have the YZ kickstart lever on my '01 XC300 and it works well.

The kickstart lever on the '06 EC300 is a new design that is much better.

The new '06 GasGas kickstart lever is slightly better than the YZ version.

Eric,

I had good service from the Pampera starter, can't argue with 3 years. I did have a grease fitting in it however so I'm sure that was a big factor. It still works, and folds out square (stop surfaces good). Its just a bit loose, vibrates, and occasionally swings out.

Dave,

I got a YZ starter on the way from Babbits, $86. The $76 part from ronayers was not in stock, thanks for the info though.
