Default sprocket

sorry if this is a newbie silly type question.
are sprockets universal? when I go on the site I want to use to buy a new set you can put your make model in etc and it brings up compatible sets. as far as I can see though there are cheaper options that are not linked to my bike but I would of thought they are just a universal shape size number of bolt holes? If I need to spend the extra that's fine but I don't want to spend it if its not needed

many thanks
simon

No they are not universal. You will be hard pressed to find Gas Gas specific sprockets, but the Italian Husky sprockets fit (not KTM era). I got a 50 tooth off a TXC310 that fit perfectly.

Lots of cross referencing parts with this bike, but that is a good thing.

Personally I don't trust e-bay for fitment after being burnt by sellers in the past. Yes Husqvarna rear sprockets from 1995 up until KTM bought them out will fit but Ktm turned those bikes into rebadged ktms so I'd bet they now have ktm sprockets.

GG part number is ME25936084 (or may supercede to a newer number). It's description is D25, DIN 471
I decipher that as a #25 retaining ring, type DIN471. If you google DIN471 you'll get some sites with measurements. A good fastener supply store would probably stock it.
