Clip position ?
I ride a 2002 250 EC
Can anyone tell me what the clip position actually does, The manual recommends my set up in the central position. What effect does putting the clip higher or lower have ? My settings are Needle N1ef main jet 178 Pilot 38 slide 6 altitude 300 ft above sea level Does this set up look ok if not what changes would you make ? Thanks

The needle affects fuel flow mostly from approx. 1/8 to 3/4 throttle.
Raising the clip on the needle leans your fuel/air mixture in this throttle range and lowering it richens it. The needle restricts fuel from being drawn through the needle jet. As the throttle is turned it raises the needle out of the jet, progressively allowing more fuel through. |

Still rich
Thanks for the reply Brian
so by this i think i shoulld put the clip on the top cut away, as it seems to be missing and spluttering still (too rich ?) even though the jets and needle are quite lean ? and the air screw is out 1 1/2 turns. Would changingh the slide from a 6 to a 7 make much difference ? Thanks

Go one clip position at a time. Try the #2 position if the middle seems rich (positions count from the top slot down).
Yes, a leaner slide will effect a similar opening range. Much like changing needles. Have a read through this |
