Default Leaking Counter Shaft Seal

Noticed an oil leak from the counter shaft seal on my 2011 250. Figured I would change out the o-rings that reside behind the spacer/bushing. Problem is I cannot remove the spacer/bushing to get at the o-rings.. It will not budge.. Any idea's on how to remove it..

Thanks

Ed....

Are you replacing the outer seal too? Imagine using a pic/tapping screw to pull the seal would help the bush come out.

I hadn't planned on doing the outer seal, but looks like I will have to.. You would think you could just grab that bushing with some vise grips and slide it off the counter shaft, I've done that to many other bikes over the years.. This one however is froze in place..weird..

I used a skinny and pointy metal (or was it a wood) screw.

Tap it in. Rotate a few rotations. Out with channel locks.

Be sure to replace the O-rings inside and don't tap in the new outer seal in too far. Flush is good.

Default Giving Credit where Credit is do!!

Finally got it, after a question from Rob Lang at Langs Offroad, he asked if there was any play in and out of the countershaft, my answer was there is absolutely none, he suggested I give the shaft a whack with a plastic mallet, in the hopes that the shaft would move in a bit freeing up the spacer, well... it did, after a bit of banging around, off the spacer came and I'll be able to change out the o-rings and outer seal as well, I'll be sure to use lots of anti seize when I do the install of the new spacer..... Thanks Rob

Ed..

Iv had mine stick before and just taped on the spacer then grabbed it with some large pliers.

It has been my experience that if you don't replace ALL OF IT (2 o-rings, spacer, outer seal) it will keep leaking and you are only saving a couple bucks.

Getting some oil leaking from behind my counter sprocket... Will someone point me in the right direction where to source the 2 o-rings, spacer, outer seal for my 2005 EC300 in the US? Thanks

A popular national parts store quoted me $62 w/o shipping for outer seal, spacer, 2 o-rings... Does that sound right? The spacer is a $35 part?
