Default 05 300 EC stator compatibility?s

Hi my sons 05 300 EC started developing stater issues, gas gas was asking $340 for a brand new unit. Ricky stater offered $250 for rewind. my question is they look very similar to 00-07 ktm 300 stators. Are they compatible? I believe it?s a 2k2 stator. Any and all input appreciated. Thanks

I believe you will need to mount the stator on the GG backing plate to get the orientation/timing correct. Do the two stators look the same (coil orientation relative to the mounting holes) and do they have the same wiring? If they look very similar try it and see. If they are not very similar in orientation / clocking with same wiring you will have more work to do.

To be honest I?m not sure if what I took off the bike is the OEM stator. It?s completely different from picture in the manual. As far as comparing my stator to the ktm (witch I think is what this is) the pick up is slightly clocked different between the two. What a mess. Heres a photo of mine vs what I?m hoping will work after changing the wire connectors. What do you think?

That photo is really small. Can you post it larger? Can you also post the ktm and GG stator plates side by side?

Look at this topic:
http://www.gasgasrider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23712

It shows the GG/KTM comparison for the larger 2K3.
You should be able to do the same thing with the 2K2.

Learn to roll your own. I've rewound stators myself with good results. It just takes patience.

Hi voltage coils encased in resin on plastic forma. Swine to separate one from the other. Can't burn it off without destroying it.

Correct. It can be somewhat frustrating but worth it IMO. You gotta do either the source coil, which is only one pole, or the lighting coil, which is the rest of the poles, or do both circuits completely. It isn't that hard to do. It just takes patience and a steady hand. Like I said, I've done it and I'm just an average guy with no special tools or training.
