I have over 200 hours on my 07 with all stock internals except the piston. A mix of racing and trail riding. See if Stainlesscycle chimes in, he ran an 00' 200 for years and years on at least the stock piston.

crank seemed indestructible, never an issue.. piston ran for way too long - like 1000 hours before blowup. probably metal fatigue on piston caused blowup.

The OEM rod kit is actually a Japaneese Vesrah, same size as a Honda CR250. Nice thing about the GG200 as far as durability is concerned is its based on the 250, not a bored/stroked and stressed out 125.

Run a good synthetic at 32:1 to 40:1 and jet for it, clean filter, and it will run a long time. Good idea to change top end @ 100 hrs, even if compression is good, like any 2 stroke.

Anything left idle in damp conditions can cause problems with big end. Hopefully that is not the case.

my '02 200 is still going strong with new owner. Never touched the bottom end & did the piston out of guilt, but even the rings were still in spec for end gap. Not only that, but at the new end of in spec. Amazing. Piston looked new.
