Default 06 ec 250 rebuild / update

Thought id share my rebuild experience with everone.

So far I have....
Ordered transformation kit
Started pulling it down I admit I went back to the simple life of a yamaha 4stroke ... clean airfilter change oil ride repeat

Was close to scraping the bike but decided against it, I bought it new in 06 and raced / pretty well beat on it for the next 3 or 4 years (rebuild in 08 Approx 80hrs)
old piston

won some dust colectors, and put it in the corner to rest for a few years.

Fitted rear disc protector thats been sitting in a draw for years

stripped and cleaned carby(pilot jet dirty) and logged current jetting
Pilot 42
Needle N1ef 2nd clip from bottom
Main 178
slide std #7
a/s 1.5 turns

Put the newish pipe on ive had siting there forever
Old pipe

Took off scotts damper as I had a home made top mount and had to have steering stops wound out so damper didnt reach the end of its throw so steering lock was really bad acceptable steering lock now
fork seals were changed and fresh oil last ride before stripdown
stator has been rewound as was breaking down(this is partly why it got rested in the first place) done just before stip down
wondering if i should buy new rims mine are pretty beat after 4years of racing , probably just live with em

There is a decent list of parts need ordering and plenty of stuff that needs attention will post info / pics as I go.......

That is a thing of beauty.....

I wanted a WRF, and was torn betwween 250 and 450. People said the 450 would 'rip my arms out' (At the end of a long ride) - being a bit of a novice.

I got a 250 in the end and was really dissapointed. Quite peaky, and the lack of power bored me shit-less. Im a big guy, with alot of motorcycle experience [Although only a year off-road] and dont feel the 450 would have been a problem.

Glad i got the Gasser, but might still have a dabble with a 450 sometime......

And keep the rebuild pics coming fullthrottle. I've had a couple of 'makeovers' on various bikes in the last few years, and its always interesting to see other peoples ideas / methods and thoughts.
