Anxiously waiting for your report. Well, sorta. Yeah, pretty much interested in how it works. Current folding money is set aside for repairs, but future mad money needs a reason to stew.

It will be built tomorrow or so and shipped. I am going to work on the Rekluse adjustable slave, racing number plate mount and graphics.
Lectron will be tackled next week. I asked Mr Lectron about that plastic airboot-to-carb adapter that is on my '11 GG. He said be was vaguely familiar with it, but hadn't heard of any fitment issues. Will I be removing that or keeping it on? I was thinking about gearing down one tooth in the front. I wonder if the mambo torque of tbe 36mm Lectron will dissuade me? |

I would wait on gearing it down until after you get the Lectron installed and adjusted. I'm guessing you'll decide not to gear it down after trying it.
If you are refering to the plastic adapter that is fitted to the stock carb you won't need to put it on the Lectron. At least I didn't.

I've also put the 36 lectron on my 2011 250 Race, the carb adapter stays with your stock carb, the lectron fits way better as is... I'm pretty happy with the 36, have gone back to 13/48 gearing, lots of low end grunt and pretty linear power delivery..Still having some issues right at the bottom, either to rich or to lean, The 1/4 turn adjustment just seems to big to fine tune the bottom. Am looking at getting Lectrons new rod. Looking forward to your report.

What did I do?
So I leaned out my Lectron by extending Rod. 1 kick and it starts. Idle seems to be stuck. I turn adjustment out but idle stays the same. Any thoughts?

You sure that high idle isn't the engine racing from being a bit too lean?? pull the choke for a second and see if it drops. You could also look in the intake and see what height the slide is sitting at, or remove the slide and check the action of the grub screw for the idle speed. I also recall some intial wear on the slide where it stops against the screw. Double check this hasn't got too much burring on it. A good tip is to lift the slide (open the throttle a bit) when making idle adjustments, as it takes the weight off the slide.

38mm or 36mm for the 300?

Kelly got me the 38mm for my 300.
We discussed this and he says that the difference would be minimal... But AZRick says a bit different.

I spoke to him about the 36 vs 38 on my 250 and the fact that I'm a short-shifter and that I want more bottom the Keihin already gives me all the top end I want.
He agreed with my hypothesis that the 36 would suit my needs. However, if I were on a 300, based on the 300s that I have ridden, I would go with a 38 for that bigger bored bike. I'm just tailoring the bike to my needs, not attempting to assume that my quirks would fit the majority. |
