Thanks Glenn ! (Jet Lube)
Yeah, I'm still riding an '03.
I'm replacing my broken subframe and realized that it'd be a good time to pull the linkage and swingarm off. It's been 2 years , so I expected a battle, and to be needing new bearings. NOPE ! Inside looks like it did when I put it together. Jet Lube is great stuff ! Anyway, the swingarm bolt was pretty dry, but it came out okay. I was wondering if anti-seize might be better on that bolt than Jet Lube ? |

Hey Brian, yeah its good stuff thats for sure. I'm down to a once a year service and its always fine. The o-rings seal better and tighter than the old seals and are cheap too. It works just as well as antiseize on the pivot shaft as far as I can tell, a few taps of a hammer with an aluminum rod and its out after a year.

I'll bite....Where do I get this magical Jet-Lube and what o-rings fit? My bike is going down to the frame and it would be a good time to do this....Thanks

Jet lube is available from McMaster Carr and I got a bag of o-rings from them too. I'll check the sizes and get back to you.

Jet Lube is marine moly, mcmaster part # 10625K11 http://www.mcmaster.com/#10625k11/=ak49ub
The o-rings are 3.5X21. You can look at the 2005 parts manual to reverify the o-ring size.

When pressing in the o-rings, use a feeler guage or a very small flat screwdriver to carefully break the seal on one side to allow the release of grease and trapped air, otherwise they can "walk" out. The linkage has the large washers so its no big deal but not the swingarm bushing outer sides. As an additional precaution, here I use an additional 2 x 21 o-ring over the 3x21 as a retainer ring. Once its in the frame against the boss everything is captured nicely. If you do all of this you will be good for the season, its the best sealed most durable linkage in the business set up like this.

Great point about releasing the trapped air Glenn.
