fuel range
im wondering what some of you are experiencing on your fuel range.
i have a 2011 300 six days and im getting right at 40 miles per tank, thats on a single track running a pretty good pace. our race season is about to start up and im just trying to figure out if im going to need to schedule a fuel stop or not. |

I had to go to reserve at around 41.5 in a race yesterday, so I am guessing 43-44 miles tops on my 2011 250 Six Days in race conditions. I haven't changed the jetting from stock, just lowered the needle.

Install a needle with a fatter initial/root diameter will help you consume less fuel.
I went from the F diameter as in the stock N1E"F" to an H diameter. I run an NOZH top clip with a 42 pilot in my '10 300. I get much better mileage out of it, both in tight and open trails. Since there is no accelerator pump to waste fuel like on a 4 stroke, the needle diamter plays a large role in how much fuel passes that portion of the needle when you are in the lower throttle ranges.

RB head mod was good for an extra 5 miles per stock tank on my 300.

I used 6 liters yesterday to go about 32 miles at trail ride pace in tight single track. Stock needle 2nd slot 40 pilot 172 main. spent a lot of time in 2nd below 1/2 throttle. I have a 38 pilot coming, maybe I'll look into the nozh ....... 11 250 6 days

2010 300
38, N3CH #2, 175 and float level adjusted. 70 miles on a stock tank. However I ride mostly 2nd gear tight stuff and I am not super aggressive with the throttle

42 N3EW#2 175/178. Lugs well. Punches hard in the mid range. Rips top!
Todays consumption 5L for 60KM. Generally I get around 10KM/L though so as above. Around 100km from the tank. |

thanks for the input, i am surprised at the differences in ranges that everyone is experiencing. most of the races that we do here are around the 40 mile range, so maybe with a few little mods and focusing on riding smooth and not wasting a lot of fuel maybe i can make it without a fuel stop.
one more question.... has anyone tested to see far they can run on reserve??? thanks again for the input |

Or........how far did you have to push your bike after you learned the hard-way how long it takes to use up the reserve.
