It is! I just went over every thing last night and nothing touches or rubs. Not a install issue either. Never seen a rodent or droppings at this house, unless the spiders are hungry. The damage is right on the top, under the batt. This may be the ticket. I'll look into it tonight. My old filter even has some pitting there now that I dug it out and looked. Did the batt work well still? Mine does. Did you have to replace the batt or was there another fix?

Rosco gets a gold star! Indeed a leaking battery. Its melting the batt tray a bit also. It's crazy that the batt is still cranking good. Well put that in the memory bank if it looks like rodents and you are sure its not check your battery. Now to lithium or not to lithium... Here are some pics.

Glad that helped you out. Sorry that you have to buy a new battery now though. Oh well look at the bright side now you can throw in a nice light weight lithium and nock a few pounds off of your bike. I've been using a Shorai for over 3 years now. It has been in 3 different bikes and still works awesome. Well worth the extra money that they get.
Also if you pick up a 6 or 8 guage ( I can't remember which one I used) 2 prong quick disconnect it will make it a lot nicer when you remove the seat for air filter service. If you install the quick disconnect and remove the cable from the seat you can just unplug the disconnect and lay the seat off to the side instead of it hanging their on the bike.

I always wondered how a sealed lead acid battery would work laying on its side when it vents out the topside of the battery. I guess now I know. I thought maybe the one we had here was just an isolated incident but I bet more cases will be showing up down the road.

My XP Ski-Doo has a Yusa battery mounted on it's side and I haven't had an issue like this yet. It's still the original battery from 08'. BTW good job Rosco.

I have the LFX14L2-BS12 model Shorai on mine and it works great. You have to pad the box a little bit with the sticky padding they give you but it's light and no leaks. Glad you found the root of your problem!
