Default which ignition will work?

I have a 03' ec 250 engine and I am building a frankin-bike with used parts I am getting here and there, the question I have is; will basically any ignition work from any year ec 250? I know the older 99' thu 03 or 04 have a little less snap but usally a better lighting coil but can any body tell me if any 2k2 or 2k3 will work and what can I expect. Thanks!

Any gasgas two stroke 200 to 300 cdi will work as will 2k2, 2k3 or duck ign. Depends what you want, 2k3 for more wattage and flywheel effect, 2k2 for moto or gnc type riding.Duck ign is the oddball & requires a different ign cover. Got a couple of 2k3 if your interested on regular the other super high output with floating ground.

The '03s were a bit soft in the power dept. For western riding especially, try to find a CDI from a '00 - '02 XC250, MC250, or EC/XC200, or a later model before the connector system changed, probably to mid '06. Both Cruiser and I did this on our '03s and the bikes ran a lot better off the bottom into the midrange, where the stock '03 CDIs made them run a little flat. I would suggest getting a 2K-2 and a weight for more flexibility, unless you meed the higher output lighting coil. As widebear said all are compatable, just be aware of the correct static timing.
