Default For All you Can & US Racers, Next August:

Aug 26/2012

Inaugural running of 'Motomotion'- A XC race to benefit the Rick Hansen foundation. (he's the guy that has rode his wheelchair across Canada & around the world & done numerous other accomplishments, for those who may be unfamiliar with the name.)

The event will be at Chicopee Ski club and summer resort in Kitchener Ont. This is a ski hill in the center of a 4 cities urban area(Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge-Guelph) and has all kinds of local accomodations, restaurants etc. within a couple miles of the site.
It's a full service skihill, so spectators & participants will be well served with concessions, real bathrooms etc.(no portapotties)

That's fantastic! Keep posting the details, including any (pre) entry requirements.

Although I'm not personally involved with the with the direct organizing of the event, I've been kept up to date every step of the way.

Interest has been very strong and the organizers have reason to suspect that they may have to cap entries- at least for the first year; in order to test the format and work out any possible kinks that may appear.

They will be prepared to start accepting entries early in the new year. Because the event is part of the Offroad Ontario provincial series, there will very likely be a minimum number of entries reserved for regular competitors in all classes of that series.
The rest will be open to anyone & there should be a decent amount of spots available.
Entry fees will likely be comparable to most regular US and Canadian events.
None of this is cast in stone yet, but it should be finalized soon.

The venue has been extraordinarily supportive and we believe that this type of event will help Offroad motorcycling become more appealing to the general public & help improve perceptions.

Will post updates as soon as I receive them.

Brian

Hey I remember the Chicopee Ski hill. Kinda sticks out from a relative flat land scape. I was seeing a nurse that was attending University of Waterloo at the time. Brings back some good memories...

Thx for sharing

I'm a regular competitor at the Off-Road Ontario XC and enduro races, and can say that they run quality events.

I heard about the new Chicopee race a few days ago and I'm really looking forward to it. Tell all your friends and register early!

See you there.

Time for some updates:

Aeryon systems has signed on as a sponsor; Aeryon designs and sell miniature robotic UAV's. They're the guys that helped the fuel tanker 'Renda' get to Nome Alaska a couple weeks ago.
http://www.aeryon.com/

They'll be showcasing their technology to stream live aerial footage of the event to spectators.

Pro Purse has been set:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Motomo...08481405893027
Up to $4250 up for grabs, based on 20 riders, incl. $2000 for 1st place.

Should be announcing a title sponsor soon. Organizers are very close to signing a deal.
