Contact to protect plastics?

Hey all,
I was just wondering whether it is worth covering new stickers on an older bike with contact?
I know a few on here have done it and was interested in how much longer the stickers lasted and what sort of clear contact they used?

Gonna scuff up over time, gives the bike "character"

I've used clear background material for years now. Factory FX is the easiest to apply.
