Electrical issues '01 EC200
I'm pretty sure I have a faulty CDI box. My dealer says the parts manual shows a p/n ME250034007 as the correct CDI for the 2001 EC200; I cannot verify this however the 2003 download parts manual says this is for a 300.
My bike, bought new, had a red sleeved CDI box which apparently is for a 250. Have always had trouble fine tuning the jetting, I'm thinking I want a '03 (blue) CDI but not sure if this will work on the '01. Should do if the cylinder (port timing) and ignition are the same, but are they? Any comments? I have also more recently posted a note on this under General Discussions. Nov.21 2009 Installed a new CDI box, p/n ME250034007 as per the parts manual (there was one in stock locally) and it has come back to life. It even fires a previously 'fouled' plug. Have not gone for a serious ride yet but I'm wondering what the pick up coil gap should be, cannot find a spec in any manuals...Thanks Glenn for previous recommendations.
