Question Stand Rubbing on Swingarm

My 2006 FSE450 (owned since new, done 1100klm) has serious rub marks on the swinarm from the stand. If you push the stand by hand there is no way of making it touch the swingarm. her doesn't seem to be any movement in the swingarm bearings.
SO...Is there somthing wrong with my bike or is the swingarm and stand flexing under heavy load causing them to rub. If so, do all Gassers do this.

P.S. I love My GASGAS
Adam

mine has never ever been close to the swingarm,it does contact the sidepanel when retracted though, there should be no way it hits the swingarm unless one of the bolts is missing or you bent it pretty bad, they are bent to clear the swingarm on purpose, maybe yours took a hit and bent?

Ive had the hyde swingarm and exhaust guards on my '06 FSE450 since new and my stand has rubbed on the swingarm guard (luckily not the swingarm itself)

Could they be meeting at the top of the suspension travel? Look for "tell" marks on the kickstand, if the swingarm is rubbed then so is the kickstand or what ever is rubbbing the swingarm. If you can't find the tell mark I would cover the swingarm rub mark in grese or vasaline and try to rub some off on the kickstand while riding. That should tell you where it is making contact.

PEB, I think you are correct. I will load the suspension up and see how close it is. The bike is in excellent condition and I don't believe that anything could be bent as it has never had a bad stack. I'll check it out and let you know..

Thanks all for your input

My '05 has the same wear on the swingarm. I found that the lower kickstand bracket bolt with the chain roller on it had fallen out and the bracket was bent a little causing it to rub on the swingarm at the top of the stroke.
I hate those kickstands so much.

My kickstand rubs on the swingarm occassionally. I have a few decent gouges from it too. I think the gouges are from the coil spring/anchor on the kickstand, since it is close to the swingarm when the rear compressed.

I have the same year and bike as fury and my kickstand has rubbed the swing arm from day one. The stand contacts the arm at the top of the arc. I took a grinder to my kickstand. It took quite a bit of grinding to get it to clear. I also screwed around with the stand bolt and put some spacers in there to get it as far away from the swing arm as I could. The grinding is what really solved the problem though. Put a piece of duct tape on the swing arm after you grind it. If you come back from a ride and the tape is chewed up ... grind some more. repeat till the tape come back from a ride unharmed.

I put a 3' piece of pipe on my husky kickstand and gave it some more "clearance" as needed.
Worked great until I started wearing over the boot pants and some how always ended up with the kick stand in my pant leg. Don't know why I cared, can't reach the ground anyways on the Husky.

Only had the gasser for a month, kick stand was in a box. I put it on and it has been hitting the swing arm. I have hides on it so I really don't care, but I'm sure a little 3 foot black iron pipe time is in it's future.

Thumbs up

Thanks everyone for your input, it has helped. I'm not too stressed about it but was just concerned it was only happening on my bike. I think a small scuff mark on the swing arm is a small price to pay when the rest of the bike in my eye's is perfect

Giddy Up those Gassers
