older ec , cdi location

I just swapped a steel subframe from a earlier gasser onto my 03 mc.The old airbox does not appear to be molded to accept the cdi in the, above the shock location. Can anybody steer me in the right direction for mounting the unit?

On my '00 XC250, it was mounted inside the airbox with a rubber strap, on the left side behind the sidepanel.
