I've had the same Scotts for 9 years on many bikes. Been rebuilt a few times and still works fine. The newer (current) GG tower #6265 is fine and does not slip. To seal the top bearing, use an o-ring and bevel washer like on the bottom bearing or if your tower was supplied with a shortened steel cup, use that with an o-ring underneath.

I can see an advantage to the sub mounts with the shorter tower being stronger, but I just don't like the bars that high.
